HEAD Boom: which model suits your game?
The Boom series is HEAD's power line-up – it drives the ball forward fast without requiring a perfect swing from you. The Boom Elite and Boom Team, with a 690 cm² head, are built for beginners, while the Boom MP UL and Boom MP L are for stepping things up. The Boom MP (295 g) is the series' reference model, and the Boom Pro (310 g, 630 cm²) is the competition frame.
The 2026 Boom models at a glance
Two figures matter most. Head size is the strung hitting area – the bigger it is, the bigger the sweet spot, the zone where a hit goes through cleanly. The balance point shows where the weight sits: the higher the value, the more head-heavy the frame, and the more power it brings on its own.
The technology behind the Boom series
Every Boom frame has a 16/19 string pattern: 16 main strings and 19 cross strings. The open pattern lets the strings work harder and helps you generate spin – the rotation on the ball. According to the manufacturer, Hy-Bor fibres run through the shaft, keeping the frame steadier at the moment of impact. Add to that Auxetic 2 against vibrations and Graphene Inside for extra stability. Coco Gauff and Lorenzo Musetti both play the Boom on tour.
Within the HEAD tennis racket range, the Boom series is the choice for power. For other playing styles, see HEAD Speed, HEAD Extreme, HEAD Prestige, HEAD Radical and HEAD Gravity.
Weight and grip size
- Weight: lighter frames get into position faster, heavier ones cope better with your opponent's hard-hit balls. When in doubt, choose the lighter model – weight can be added later, but not removed.
- Grip size: between two sizes, pick the smaller one and build it up with a HEAD grip.

Is the HEAD Boom available for children too?
Yes. The HEAD Boom Jr. 26 weighs 245 g and, at 660 mm, is shorter than the adult models. You'll find more sizes among the HEAD junior rackets.
Is the HEAD Boom Team L still available?
We no longer carry a Team L in the current Boom generation. The closest alternatives are the Boom Team at 260 g and the Boom MP L at 275 g.
Which HEAD Boom suits me if my arm gives me trouble?
The Boom series is designed as a power line-up, not an arm-friendly one. If you have issues with your elbow or shoulder, take a look at the comfort rackets first.
