Wilson Blade: control and feel for players with technique
Wilson's Blade line is built around control: for advanced and tournament players who generate their own power and want precision plus a direct feel for the ball in return. Within the Wilson tennis rackets range, these models weigh 275 to 305 g unstrung, with head sizes – the area of the string bed – ranging from 632 to 670 cm². The main variable between versions is the string pattern, meaning the number of main and cross strings.
What playing level do you need for the Blade?
The Blade rewards a clean strike: the more centrally you hit the sweet spot – the area of the string bed with the best control and power transfer – the more the frame gives back. That's why it's found among advanced players' rackets and the Wilson tour rackets, not among beginner rackets – an off-centre hit doesn't get forgiven here either. If you're moving up a level, the lighter frames are the more comfortable route, also true for the Wilson women's rackets and towards the Wilson junior rackets.
Which Wilson Blade model suits you?
The rule of thumb: an open string pattern (16x19) lets the strings move more and delivers more spin, meaning more rotation on the ball; a dense one (18x20) keeps the ball flatter and its direction more predictable. Even more spin comes from the 98S with its 18x16 pattern – the finishing touch is then a control-focused Wilson tennis string.
What makes the Blade V10 special?
In April 2026, Wilson moved the line to its tenth generation. According to the manufacturer, TurboTaper adds more power and StableFeel+ gives more stable feedback on contact; the FortyFive carbon layup gives the frame its flexibility. You'll find the new releases on the Blade V10 offer page, and the previous generation at a better price on the Blade V9 offer page, along with matching Wilson overgrips and Wilson tennis shoes.
Good to know
The tour frames in the Blade line ship unstrung – you choose your own string and tension. At Tennis-Point, only the lighter 101 Team and 100UL models come pre-strung. You'll find more details on stringing on each individual product page. Not sure whether the frame suits your game? Several Blade models are available among our Wilson demo rackets.
Which pros play the Wilson Blade?
To launch the Blade V10, Wilson names Aryna Sabalenka, Amanda Anisimova, Mirra Andreeva, Victoria Mboko and Jakub Menšík among the players using the Blade.
What's the difference between the Blade, the Clash and the Pro Staff?
The Blade sits between the two: the Wilson Clash is more flexible and therefore the more arm-friendly choice, while the Wilson Pro Staff is the classic control frame for long, flowing swings. The Wilson Ultra delivers more power still.
What grip sizes are available for the Wilson Blade?
At Tennis-Point, the Wilson Blade is available in grip sizes 0 to 4, depending on the model. If in doubt, go one size smaller – you can build a grip up with an overgrip, but you can't take material away.
