Lacoste Tennis Clothing: Timeless Elegance on the Centre Court

When it comes to classic, iconic brands for tennis clothing, hardly any label gets close to Lacoste. Almost every tennis player knows Lacoste fashion's trademark: that legendary crocodile logo.

Lacoste Tennisbekleidung

When tennis player René Lacoste founded his company in 1927, he initially had personal needs in mind: he needed a comfortable, yet sharp-looking shirt made for long, intense matches on the tennis court. And since Lacoste could not find it with other brands, he invented the legendary, short-sleeved Lacoste polo shirt "L 12.12" made of a then-innovative piqué fabric. Until then, players had usually worn white shirts underneath white blazers. Hence, Lacoste's innovation revolutionised tennis clothing, for those new Lacoste polo shirts were simply a lot more breathable and comfortable than traditional tennis garments.

How Did Lacoste Get its Iconic Crocodile Logo?

It all started with René Lacoste window shopping in Boston in 1923. Pierre Gillou accompanied his Davis-Cup teammate and promised to buy him a suitcase made of alligator leather if Lacoste won his match that day. Lacoste lost; however, the name stuck: from that day on, people associated Lacoste's play and competitive spirit with a crocodile’s tenacity, and therefore called him "the crocodile." The nickname, the logo: once he had founded his clothing brand, Lacoste attached a green logo shaped like a crocodile to every single item of tennis clothing.

A laudable side effect: While fighting against manufacturers producing fake Lacoste products, under the slogan "Save our logo,” the brand takes a stand for endangered species such as crocodiles and alligators.

Shop Fashionable Lacoste Sportswear at Tennis-Point

Traditionally, tennis clothing focuses on overgarments. Hence, those elegant Lacoste polos and shirts are particularly popular. However, the brand has long been providing sophisticated tennis players with high-quality items in other apparel categories.

Tennis ladies love to wear a highly fashionable Lacoste tennis skirt or a Lacoste tennis dress with that iconic crocodile emblem. At Tennis-Point, you will find a vast range of Lacoste sportswear grouped into the following sections:

Today, Lacoste produces its famous polo shirts in almost any colour, plus many unique designs. Tennis players enjoy them mainly due to their comfortable fit and the elite mobility the polos provide, especially during hard-fought matches. At the same time, Lacoste tennis clothing for women and men does not only catch eyes on the tennis court. The effect remains the same if you simply walk the streets of your city or hang out in a park nearby.

Moreover, you will discover a wide range of other Lacoste fashion made for tennis. Finding yours is easy: Just choose the "product type" you are looking for – that may be a topdressskirt, or tennis socks – set additional filters such as gender, colour, size and price, and, just like that, you choose from a selection tailored to your preferences.
